What’s For Dinner? explores how historical and societal forces shape the concept of womanhood, often confining us within constructed identities. By layering imagery of art historical references, nature, destruction and my own personal imagery, I create a chaotic visual narrative meant to overwhelm the viewer. The work becomes a reflection of my mind’s inner workings, where layered images reflect the influences that have shaped my understanding of womanhood. Each piece is crafted on plates, a symbol of consumption. Just as we eat off plates, society consumes women through these distorted ideas, reducing them to fabricated ideals and standards. Through my art, I invite the viewer to reflect on how these perceptions continue to shape the lives and identities of women today.
